Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
The day started out with heavy fog, low clouds, misty skies & wet ground, causing me to wait a few hours before starting my flight. Despite the conditions, I was able to see some very interesting activity with Cybercabs at the End-of-Line facility, the outbound lot and loading up on covered transports, and at the crash testing facility. In total, many more than 30 were observed today across the site, which is a new record!

In the introduction, I talk about the progress with Cortex 2.0 and a recent post responding to my posting on X by Elon Musk confirming that initial operation is expected to begin in April.
As we are seeing on the site, the strategy involved uses the agile project management process, meaning part of the system, in this case half of the Megapacks, electrical systems, part 1 of the cooling system augmented with 18 temporary cooling trailers and the start of installation of computer cabinetry in the next one to two weeks.
From what I can see and am hearing, they are on track to meet Elons timelines and will continue to build out the second half of Cortex 2 throughout the rest of spring and into summer.
Over at the new test track construction site located on the far southwest we see additional work to expand out the site, more ground fill and grade work, filling in of water drainage ditches and applying Geotextile membranes as part of an overall effort to prepare the site grade for construction. Hard to say for sure, but on the west side an oval shape seems to be emerging, possibly indicating the track design on that side of the site.
On the far east side, work on the River Road extension seems to have paused near the workshops for pipe fabrication and instead, crews have relocated efforts to the far northeast area where the new road will emerge onto lone tree field. This work includes removing hills and ponds, correcting the grade and clearing tree debris.
The North Campus also continues to see expansion, increased earthmoving work, dirt cleanup and tree debris removal, concrete crushing and recycling making headway just northeast of the cathode plant, and final cleanup of the old rental equipment lot.
