Charlie takes the all-new BMW iX3 (2026) for a first drive — BMW’s next-generation electric SUV built on the brand-new Neue Klasse EV platform.
This is a hugely important car for BMW. With an 800-volt architecture, ultra-fast charging and a completely new technology platform, the iX3 promises to deliver the driving dynamics and usability BMW is famous for — but in a fully electric package.
On paper the numbers are impressive: up to 400 miles of range, charging speeds of up to 400 kW, and a dual-motor setup producing around 460 hp with 0–60 mph in under five seconds. But numbers only tell part of the story.
In this first drive, Charlie tests how the iX3 performs on real roads — exploring its handling, performance, ride comfort, interior quality and next-generation BMW tech including the new panoramic iDrive display and updated driver assistance systems.
And the verdict? Charlie comes away seriously impressed — particularly with the driving dynamics, interior quality, and technology, which make the iX3 feel like one of the most complete electric SUVs BMW has produced.
In this video:
• First impressions of the new BMW iX3 design
• Interior quality, space and technology
• Performance and driving dynamics

If you’re considering a premium electric SUV, this is one of the most important EV launches of 2026.
