Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Another cold morning, but a lot of construction was underway at the factory today, along with a delivery pause for Model Y Performances due to the need to conduct a safety inspection on a certain part to make sure it was installed correctly during production. I start off at the northwest of the site near the Lone Star asphalt & concrete plant, then work all the way to the far southwest corner, then to the far east and we see a lot of new developments today!

In the introduction, I discuss further about the Model Y Performance delivery pause and show how many of these are stacking up at the Giga Texas outbound lot because of this pause. It has been reported there is an item related to safety that needs to be inspected and if necessary, repairs made before deliveries can resume, and the number of performance Model Y’s is a visual confirmation of that today. I hope this is resolved quickly and deliveries can resume early next week, but we will need to watch to see.
I also talk about the growing numbers of Cybercab castings showing up outside near the east part of the casting machine section. In addition to the Front Under Body FUB) and the Rear Sub Frame (RSF) castings we have seen previously, today I was able to get close views of the upper rear casting for the Cybercab, the part that frames out the rear roof and hatch section. The rear of the Cybercab appears to be very heavily reinforced and structurally large compared to the size of the vehicle, and this may be to ensure it gets great crash testing numbers and 5 stars from NHTSA once it is in production.
Finally, I discuss the ongoing work at Cortex 2, specifically with the screw-type piers, frames, conduit trenching & placement. & steel support frames being erected along the walls. In addition, the possible water tank installation area with large retaining walls, concrete pipe supports, rebar and additional screw-type piers and frame installations on the east side suggests we will see a structure surrounded on both the east and west sides with chiller unit equipment.
A few other items to look for today includes final cleanup & clearing of the east construction site including the installation of a underground water management manifold system with at least four closely spaced steel corrugated pipes which look to be intended to provide a path for the draining ditches that run along either side of Robotic Avenue. Almost all of the old vegetation debris that had been mulched has been removed, so the next steps should include preparing the overall grade to be level and ready for construction.
