Cybercab Prod Begins! Massive Site Prep for New Construction! 18 Feb 2026 Giga Texas Update(11:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Today was a challenging day to fly because despite the blue skies, few clouds and great lighting, the winds were quite strong, especially at altitude sometimes interfering with how I would like to control the drone, but nonetheless, I was able to get in a fairly expansive flight to check on what can only be described as a site preparing for a massive new phase of construction later this year. This will be on a scale like the original factory construction project!

In the video introduction, the most exciting announcement came from Tesla today as the first production Cybercab was produced and Tesla celebrated with a photo of the entire team along with the first Production Cybercab in the area where these vehicles will exit the factory and begin it’s trip to the west End-of-Line (EOL) facility.

This is about 6 weeks ahead of the planned start of volume production and indicates Tesla is proceeding well towards this goal. Despite this accomplishment, there remains a lot of work to be done in the next 6 weeks to get ready.

With the announcement of the 1st production Cybercab today at Giga Texas, it seems perhaps the engineering versions that have been used for testing and with steering wheels and pedals are getting ready for scrapping.

I noticed today 5 of these were parked at the north end of the crash testing facility. These Cybercabs had some kind of documents taped to the side of the cars and each had a tow bar on the front bumpers.

Keeping with the Cybercab theme, I noticed employees were continuing to drive Cybercabs around Giga Texas from the east side of the factory over to the west EOL and then back again. Sometimes they used different sorting lanes next to the EOL, and sometimes they went over to the Superchargers on the south end of the EOL facility.

As mentioned earlier, the other major theme today was the wide scale amount of work to prepare the site for more construction. This was on the far southwest where the old contractor parking lot is being prepared for a new role as a logistics yard, and on the far southeast where River Road is going to be extended along the Colorado River and to the east of the Cathode Plant and then continue up to the lone tree field.

We also see the northeast rental equipment lot is being disassembled and relocated to a new lot on the northwest near Tesla Road. The far north rectangular field continues to see earthwork to separate soil from tree debris and this is needed to prepare this location for massive construction. There are many other areas being prepared right now as well, and I cover most of it in today’s video!
