Everyone Says Tesla Needs a Bigger SUV, But the Model Y’s Success Tells a Different Story

From Torque News.

Before blaming Tesla for not building a big SUV, look at what buyers actually choose.

Everyone says Tesla has a problem because it keeps expanding the Model Y instead of building a big, family-sized electric SUV. But what if the uncomfortable reality isn’t Tesla’s at all. What if it’s ours. Because the Model Y didn’t become the world’s best selling vehicle by accident. It happened because millions of buyers quietly voted with their wallets. So the real question is not why Tesla keeps tweaking the Model Y. It’s why we keep buying it.

Here’s the part nobody likes to admit. Americans say they want big SUVs, but most of us buy compact crossovers. Look at the sales charts, not the comments section. Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Tesla Model Y. These dominate the market year after year. Full size SUVs get attention, but compact crossovers get volume. Tesla is following what people actually do, not what they say they want online.
