The iconic Renault Twingo is back, and it’s on a mission to put Europe on a “small car diet.” First launched in 1992, this cheeky little car returns as a retro-futuristic, all-electric city with bold plans to be properly fun and properly affordable.
We took it to the sun-soaked (and very narrow) roads of Ibiza to see if it lives up to the legend, and whether this could be one of the most important small EVs in years.
Landing in the UK in early 2027, this mischievous little EV is targeting a sub-£20K price, developed in just 100 weeks (half the usual time), and designed to be incredibly efficient to own and run. With 163 miles of range, a 27.5 kWh battery, and a lightweight 1,200 kg body, it’s all about being as economical to own as possible.
Boasting One Pedal driving, loads of smart safety tech, clever packaging, and a surprisingly spacious, thoughtfully designed interior, this isn’t just about sensible numbers. It’s all built on a platform Renault is seriously proud of.
So, can this small, city-focused EV actually be fun? And more importantly, can it keep the stress at bay in the middle of tight, chaotic city streets?
