It’s time for a Porsche GT3 RS generations drag race!
We’ve got Mat lining up in the 996, and alongside him we have a 997.2, a 991, and a 992.1, and we’re about to race them all up a runway to see just how the GT3 RS has evolved since it was first released in 2006!
All four cars are rear wheel drive, and all are powered by naturally aspirated flat six engines. But will it be an easy win for the newer 992.1? Let’s take a closer look at the stats…
The 996 generation is powered by a 3.6-litre flat six that generates 381hp and 385Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox, and it’s the lightest car here at 1,360kg. In 2026 the car is worth around £180,000.
Alongside it we have the 997.2. It’s equipped with a 3.8-litre flat-six, and this creates 450hp and 430Nm. Once again power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual, and it tips the scales at 1,370kg. As of today it’s worth around £200,000.
Up next is the 991. It rolls up with a 4-litre flat-six that puts down 520hp and 470Nm, with this power sent to the rears via a 7-speed dual-clutch. It’s the heaviest car here, at 1,443kg, and it is valued at around £190,000.
Then we come to the newest car, the 992.1. It also has a 4-litre flat-six, but in this iteration it produces 525hp and 465Nm. It also has a 7-speed dual-clutch to send the power to the rear wheels, and it weighs in at 1,428kg. It’s also the most expensive car here, at £250,000.
So will it be a walkover for the newer 992.1? Or could an older car snatch the win? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!
