I drive the new 2027 Chevy Bolt for the first time, taking it on a sunny canyon run out to Malibu to see what’s changed with this next-generation EV.
In this video, I walk through the updated interior with the new digital displays and Google-based infotainment, including built-in apps like Google Maps, YouTube, and Spotify. We also talk about the decision to skip Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and why the materials and overall cabin quality feel like a big step up from the previous Bolt.
I also dive into range and charging with the Bolt’s new LFP battery, which is designed for daily charging to 100%. Along the way, I test DC fast-charging performance, try out Super Cruise with its lane-change capability, and see how the little Bolt handles twisty canyon roads. Finally, I speak with GM engineers Jeffrey Wolak, Controls Integration Engineer, and Chris Kerry, Chief Engineer for Drive Units and Power Electronics, to discuss the battery, drive unit, and key design decisions behind the new Bolt.
