After a freezing night by the lake, I head towards Kusamo near the Russian border, then drive through challenging snow-covered roads all the way to Rovaniemi — the capital of Lapland and home of Santa Claus. Exhausted but determined, I adjust my plans and push west towards the Gulf of Bothnia.
