I picked up a U-Haul box trailer and towed it from Orlando to Miami in my Ford F-150 Lightning to see how the truck handles a long-distance tow with real charging stops along the way. With new all-terrain tires and a taller hitch slightly hurting efficiency, this trip is a great look at how the Lightning performs when pulling a full-size trailer on the highway.

Along the route, you’ll see the full experience of hooking up the trailer, navigating tight charging locations, and stopping at a mix of CCS and Supercharger sites. I also run live route planning with ABRP using OBD data on my iPad to track energy use and arrival estimates throughout the trip. This video shows the real, unfiltered experience of towing with an electric truck on a long road trip.
