From Joe Tegtmeyer.
Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
The mist, low clouds and patches of fog made the early flight challenging this morning, and I elected to stay close to the main building as a result while I waited for the skies to clear up, which they did so after a short while, the visibility increased significantly and then, we get great views of some major construction sites around Giga Texas!

I talk about the new Test Track and the progress the construction crews are making preparing to start laying down asphalt. I also noted crews preparing light poles that may be installed as part of a parking area for the track.
At the pace the progress is going, I would not be surprised to see all asphalt laid down and the track surfaces completed by the end of the month. I don’t know if there will be support facilities or structures, but if there will be some, these will likely be constructed in May, but I’ll keep watching to see!
I also discuss the North Campus construction site and how it is beginning to show the familiar “diamond” shaped foundation shape. In the middle of the foundation, GeoPier crews continue to make more piers to support the footings and the final Optimus factory, while earthwork continues not eh north and south ends of the site.
Finally in the intro, I remind viewers that today the NASA Artemis II mission comes to a conclusion with atmospheric reentry and splashdown off the coast of San Diego, California.
This has been a stunningly successful and historic mission so far, and I hope all the best to NASA and the crew for a safe return. I will be live-streaming the return with Ellie in Space on her channel starting about 30 minutes before the start of reentry.
A few other items of note from today’s flight:
The new Giga Texas Direct Delivery shade canopy is being installed today! The design and canopy cover color and materials are identical to those over the superchargers on the south end. I think this is great as having these covers will help make the new vehicle delivery even better for customers!
Today “only” 32 Cybercabs were on the west side outbound lot, but in 3 different groups, one of which was lined up on the west side of the End-of-Line (EOL) facility, and I captured some of these driving into the facility. I also saw Cybercabs exiting off the main highway and onto the Giga Texas property. I also noted a few were driving around the site along with about a dozen at the Crash Testing facility today.
I did not see Cybercabs exiting the factory portal today, but it is a Friday which is a normal non-production day, so that was not surprising.
