New Permits! Cybercab Drives to W EOL, NE Concrete Crushing! 10 Feb 2026 Giga Texas Update (08:55AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Beautiful weather and lighting to fly today and activity on the site did not disappoint. I fly over many parts of the site that we don’t see very often and relate this to new permit discussion in the video introduction.

In the video introduction, we look at a host of new Permits filed with the City of Austin within the past 6 weeks. This is in addition to, and supplements, the Travis County Permits I’ve shown & used in recent discussion.

These permits include a new West side Logistics lot (possibly to relocate the E WOW Yard) and a new parking lot, River Road extension and drainage management systems, the multi-level parking lot getting a private water line for fire protection, a new east side production support area with industrial facilities and associated improvements. We also see new permits that have associated site plan revisions.

Although the information such as actual site plans, maps, coordinates, or many details we all would like to have are not posted on the public search site (which I know, is a bummer & I hear you), I have tried to put together some additional information that puts into context the information the permits do offer.

In many cases, this explains some of the on-going changes we see at the site underway right now in preparation for some serious expansion work & future construction at Giga Texas, most of which has been hinted at in recent public Tesla events (such as the Financial Results Meeting on 28 January) & posts on X.

A few other highlights from today include:

Cybercab was stretching is wings around Giga Texas today, exiting the Cybercab production EOL portion of the factory, then driving under the S bridge, then over to the west EOL, simulating how the production process will work, then driving S past the Cybertunnel and then on for more!

I was fortunate to capture most of this activity in the video today!

Tesla energy is working hard at Cortex 2, setting up to allow for more than double the already installed number of Megapacks. There appears to be more space yet to be filled than filled, which means it could be near 300 Megapacks +/- once all are installed! This is a massive installation and is already larger than the two other Megapack installations on site!

Cortex will be very power hungry when operating at full tilt, but I think since this is to train Optimus, a lot of compute is needed!

On the far northeast side, the Lippmann concrete crushers are now operational, tasked with removing about 4 years work to scrap, broken and discarded concrete slabs, materials and excess parts. We see a large and growing pile of crushed concrete on the north end of the site, and a pile of old rebar growing on the east of the site.
