I’ve tried a number of different methods of charging an EV off-grid, and I’ve found that there’s really only one option. Standard pure sine inverters and solar generators mostly have improperly grounded AC outlets, and even the Anker f3800, which has an option for an internal neutral-ground bond for charging EVs, is not compatible with my 2017 Chevy Bolt EV’s stock EVSE (it kicks back a ground fault error).

In this video, I put together a 120 V configuration of my Growatt SPF 3000TL LVM-ES, which I plan to use to charge my EVs for the next week or so.
