Production returns, Switchyard 3rd Transformer, Cortex 2 FRP! 7 Jan 2026 Giga Texas Update (7:35 AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2026, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Gorgeous day to fly with many consequential things to see around the site today, all of which are setting up for a gigantic 2026!

In the video intro, I discuss the arrival of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) beams on site and how these will be used at the Cortex Chiller Plant. I also use archive video and imagery of the construction of Cortex 1’s Cooling plant to show how these are used and provide an idea what we will see at the Cortex 2 chiller plant. The timing of this information was great because the speed of progress at Cortex 2 chiller plant #1 is stunning!

Production has resumed, with both Model Y’s & Cybertrucks exiting the factory and moving autonomously to the west End-of-Line (EOL). In addition, I saw many Model Y Standards parked over in the east lot today too!

A big discovery with really quality, high-resolution imagery today was Cybercab quarter panel & front fender “forms or bucks” outside of the north end of the Plastics section of the main factory. I previously saw (but did not have good resolution images) the door forms in this location on my previous video too. One thing of note is that we can easily see the Cybercab front fender camera housings are molded into the fenders directly, so camera installation & removal must be a push-in process with clips.

Seeing these forms near the Plastics section is another great sign that internal preparations throughout the entire factory to support Cybercab production is quite advanced!

Cortex 2 chiller plant (parts 1 & 2) are showing progress with FRP beams going up on Part 1 and rebar for perimeter walls being laid down at Part 2.

Giga Texas continued massive expansion of electrical capabilities continues today, with two big developments. At Cortex 2, work continues at what appears to be another large Megapack installation, while the electrical switchyard expansion is now having the supporting slab for the third huge transformer excavated.

All the electrical power is vital to support the factory expansion, Cortex 1 & Cortex 2 AI Datacenters. The scale of the work here is phenomenal!
