Kia’s plan is to have an electric option in every segment of the market, and the EV5 sits right in the heart of the family SUV category. It goes head-to-head with some of the best-selling electric SUVs out there, and straight away, it looks like it belongs.
In terms of size and proportions, it’s very similar to the Sportage. At the front you’ve got the Digital Tiger Nose design, along with the Star Map LED lighting that we’ve already seen on the EV6, EV9 and EV3. It gives the EV5 a really distinctive look on the road.
There’s a big, upright front end and active air shutters that open when cooling is needed and close to help with efficiency and battery temperature. The Kia badge sits flush on the bonnet.
On GT-Line and GT-Line S models you get 19-inch alloy wheels, black mirror covers, black roof bars and dark tinted windows. The pop-out door handles extend automatically when you approach the car with the key. Around the back, the EV5 has a strong, square shape with sculpted wheel arches and Star Map lighting that runs across the rear. The rear wiper is tucked neatly under the spoiler, helping with aerodynamics while still keeping the back window clear.
