Tesla Popup Event! Cybercabs Everywhere! Site Expands Further! 16 Mar 2026 Giga Texas Update(8:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Beautiful day to fly around the site and also attend the Tesla Popup event in downtown Austin where the Cybercab, Optimus Robot and self-driving test rides were open to the public.

We also get to see the new Robotaxi logo that lights up at night! Around Giga Texas, construction is booming in multiple locations, from the far north to the far east and southeast and then to far southwest new test track. The overall level of construction underway is similar to the initial construction over 5 ½ years ago for the main factory!

In the video introduction, I talk about each of the construction sites and show some video clips to help illustrate the level of effort currently underway. I also talk about Cybercab activities at the outbound lot including a mobile display trailer/glass container with a Cybercab and Optimus in the “driver seat” headed downtown to the Tesla Popup event.

There were about 30 more testing versions of the Cybercab lined up and ready for transport off site to conduct additional testing around the country and ahead of the official start of Cybercab production.

In addition, I provide some visual updates and discussion about the Tesla Popup event that I attended right after flying at Giga Texas today. A longer version of this is available on my X channel and I recommend you check that out!

Around the site, we visit the far north where the biggest news is the expansion of the site much farther to the north on the large rectangular field where a new silt fence has been placed and now gravel is being laid down, possibly for a staging yard for materials and/or equipment necessary for construction to begin.

Further south, more cleanup of the dirt and removal of debris and signs of more expansion of earthwork too. Concrete cleanup is moving right along too, with about 80% of the large debris pile now cleaned up.

Moving to the southeast River Road extension area, we see work at the intersection with Robotic Avenue, some more pipe installation and continued work on what appears to be a water management pond. This work extends over to the Cortex 1 cooling fans.

The new test track on the southwest side is beginning to show the oval shape and possibly interior linear track roads too. I do believe the track will have banked turns and also some support facilities too. At the current rate of progress, I think we should see most of this completed by the end of this summer!

Plenty more to see today around the site. Enjoy Friday the 13th and have a great weekend!
