From EV Review Ireland.
Welcome back to the channel! Today we’re getting hands-on with the Updated 2026 MG4 EV. While there are subtle tweaks to the exterior, the interior has seen some extensive and much-needed changes. As many of you know, the MG4 has been our own long-term family car for nearly a year, so I’m particularly excited to see how this mid-cycle refresh stacks up. From the larger screens and physical controls to the simplified trim lineup in the UK, MG has taken the feedback from the original model and applied it here. We’ll be looking at the three new colours, the updated battery options, and taking it out for a drive to see if it’s still the "hot hatch" of the EV world. Features
Major Interior Tech Leap: Replaces the small driver display with a much clearer 10.25-inch screen and upgrades the central infotainment to a 12.8-inch unit with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto [06:03], [07:06].
Physical Controls Returned: Specifically for the European market, MG has added a row of tactile physical knobs and buttons for volume, fan speed, and temperature—fixing a major ergonomic complaint [07:42].
Enhanced Practicality: While towing is still not recommended, the 2026 update introduces a factory-rated roof box capability of 75 kg, adding much-needed utility for family trips [02:54].
Refined Aerodynamics: Features new 18-inch arrow wheels, a more "grown-up" rear spoiler design, and a move from radar to a higher-definition camera based system for safety assists [01:41], [01:59], [02:18].
Simplified Battery Lineup: Focuses on the "Premium" trim with a 64 kWh LFP long-range or the 77 kWh NMC extended-range battery, the latter of which provides over 330 miles of range [09:12], [09:37].
Redesigned Center Console: A new, more cohesive central tunnel that removes the "floating" bridge in favor of a full console with dual wireless charging pads and more enclosed storage [08:23].
