At CES, Jordan had the opportunity to speak with Verge Motorcycles CEO Tuomo Lehtimäki. As transportation continues its shift toward electrification, Verge Motorcycles and Donut Lab are pushing the boundaries of what electric mobility can be through innovative engineering and system-level design.
Complementing Verge’s motor architecture, Donut Lab presented a modular battery pack designed for broad integration across electric vehicles and other applications. The packs use Donut’s high–energy-density cells while maintaining conventional lithium-ion voltage ranges, simplifying compatibility with existing battery management systems and charging infrastructure.
While the approach is promising, we’ll be looking to see the performance claims around energy density, cycle life, and fast charging validated through independent, third-party testing and demonstrated at scale. If those results hold, the technology could have applications well beyond vehicles, including stationary storage and industrial systems.
