Today we take a deep dive into the DC charging curve of the Volkswagen e-Caravelle.
This electric company car comes with a 64 kWh battery (new versions now get 71 kWh), but it’s not built on the MEB platform — and that clearly shows when charging.
I charged the car from ~7% to 80% at an Ionity fast charger and analyzed:
peak charging power
charging stability
10–80% charging time
real-world behavior after high-speed driving
I also compare the charging curve to several Volkswagen MEB cars (ID.3 Pure, ID.3 Pro old & new) to show just how much slower the e-Caravelle really is — even with a larger battery.
