I walk through every bit of travel tech I carry in my F-150 Lightning (I’ve had it ~20,000 miles) and why I actually use each item on road trips. Quick spoiler: Car Scanner on an iPad mini + V‑Peak OBD tells me real battery thermal data, the Kama 3X (BluePilot 6.0) replaced Blue Cruise for me, and my Starlink Mini hides under the sunshade.
I show the exact setup: iPad mini with Car Scanner Pro (battery temps, inlet temp, coolant heater, SOC/SoH, voltage/current/power), the off‑road MagSafe phone mount (Peak Design Qi2 — rock solid), Uniden R7 radar detector (I tapped it into the self‑dimming mirror circuit), my Comma 3X on a mirror screw mount (no subscription, slide‑off to avoid heat), iPhone 16 Pro Max on a RAM MagSafe mount for filming, a cheap baby monitor that actually nails night vision, an ESR mount for my wife, Starlink Mini wiring (deep dive coming), Anker 100W GaN Prime for charging, and a small fridge that keeps adapters cool. I also point out what’s annoying — some mounts jiggle on rough roads, my 12V→USB Pro Power is crappy, and cable routing is messy because I made it work, not pretty.
