Kyle hooked his Rivian R1T Launch Edition up to a massive triple-axle cargo trailer and towed it roughly 70 miles from the farm to the track, averaging about 1 mile/kWh along the way. While the truck handled the load surprisingly well, the trailer’s enormous aerodynamic drag absolutely crushed efficiency, highlighting how aerodynamics can matter more than weight when towing with an EV. He also encountered unexpectedly aggressive power limitations at low state of charge and some questionable battery calibration behavior, with the truck dropping from 5% to 1% after sitting parked.
