My wife and I finally got the chance to test drive the Rivian R2, and after driving it, sitting in it, checking out the interior, looking at the rear seat space, and walking around the vehicle, I honestly believe Rivian knocked this one out of the park.

In this Rivian R2 first drive review, we share our real-world first impressions of Rivian’s upcoming midsize electric SUV. My wife drove the Rivian R2 first, then I drove it, and we both had the chance to experience the ride quality, seat comfort, interior quality, visibility, rear legroom, and overall feel of the vehicle.

The Rivian R2 feels premium, comfortable, well-built, and more impressive in person than I expected. The ride quality was excellent, the seats were extremely comfortable, and the overall driving experience felt like Rivian may have found the vehicle that can take the company to the next level.

In my opinion, the Rivian R2 may be Rivian’s breakout vehicle. I still think the Rivian R1T Quad Max has the best ride quality in Rivian’s lineup, but the R2 may have the most comfortable seats of any Rivian I’ve been in so far.
