People love SUVs — and the #1 SUV in the UK is the Kia Sportage.
But until now, there’s been no true electric Sportage… and that’s where the Kia EV5 steps in.
In this review, I take the EV5 out and look at what it’s like as a real-world family EV: the design, the cabin space, the boot (with tape-measure measurements), the range, the trims, and whether it makes sense as an upgrade from a petrol/hybrid Sportage.
What we cover in this video:
• EV5 trims & pricing: from £39,295 (Air) up to £47,095 (GT-Line S)
• Battery: one option across the range — 81.4kWh
• Range: up to 329 miles on the 18” wheels (drops with the bigger wheels)
• Charging: 127kW peak, around 30 mins to 80% (and yes… we’re talking 400V vs 800V)
• Boot practicality: seats down 1650L, plus my own measurements (~88cm deep / ~98cm wide with seats up)
• Rear-seat space: loads of headroom, comfy seats… but the usual “4.5 seater” middle seat reality
• Pet Mode!
• Plus: the charging port position and why I’m not a fan of it
The EV5 is comfortable, smooth, packed with useful tech, and it’s exactly the kind of EV SUV a lot of UK buyers want… but with Chinese rivals pushing faster charging (and sharp pricing), is Kia doing enough here?
