Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
A beautiful early morning flight today as the sun rises over the east horizon reveals some pretty exciting developments, particularly to the north of Cortex 2 where new land clearing, soil reclamation work & rental equipment lot relocation efforts are underway to prepare for a major new phase of construction at Giga Texas!

In the video introduction, I talk about the new “North Campus” site and permits that have been filed and show where all this work is now underway. This is the location of the new Optimus 10 million per year production and support facilities will be built and follows additional supporting construction to the southeast and east from this location.
Over the next few months, we should see dirt infill being brought in to reclaim some of the old sand and gravel mine hills and ponds to prepare for construction, very reminiscent to the original work to prepare the grade for the main factory. I expect to see Geopiers and geotextile membranes being used along the way to ensure the ground is ready to support a substantial new set of facilities.
I also talk about a developing positive situation regarding Cybertruck sales, as the new standard AWD truck at $59,990 is proving very popular and sales seems to be going so well, that a price increase is expected starting on 1 March and also, referrals have been stopped because the demand is certainly at the high range of what Tesla was hoping for, if not beyond their expectations. This is great news for the company and for Giga Texas.
In this wide-ranging flight today, we see much of the site preparation and on-going construction to support the North Campus and River Road extension, but also a new material staging yard on the west side to allow for relocation of materials from the far southwest areas which themselves are in the process of being reconfigured and prepared for new construction.
I believe the new plan in the far southwest is to finally bring a test track to the factory, which is an important part of product testing and development. This also follows several changes in plans for the test track location over the past 18 months, and now it seems we may finally have the location. This is something I will continue to watch and see if what we see on the ground confirms this!
Production was gearing up during my early morning flight, with many Model Y’s over at the outbound lot, transport trucks loaded up with both Model Ys and Cybertrucks departing the site, and more arriving from the factory. After I was done flying and headed home, I noted Cybercabs were out again testing the route from the factory exit to the west End-of-Line (EOL) facility.
At the Crash Testing facility, I noted more work on the new ATD lab, with wall more wall panels installed and building materials on the inside. All Cybercabs that were located on the north end on my Monday flight have been moved inside for testing. I suspect we will see many more of these being tested over the next month as production gears up ahead of the April official start target.
