4 Construction Sites, Many Cybercabs, Cybertrucks & Model Ys! 15 May 2026 Giga Texas Update (8:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Depending on when Starship Flight 12 happens, I may not be flying over Giga Texas next week, so this is a great way to see everything going on in a short clip before I head down to Starbase.

Right now, I think 19 May is still the NET launch target date, but there are some additional testing that will take place this weekend that may affect the launch. I am currently planning noon driving down on Sunday, but if it slips more than 2 days, I may fly at Giga Texas on Monday and then proceed to Starbase.

In other words, be prepared for some schedule changes, but I hope to get in a flight over the lithium plant and cover many of the changes and activities at Starbase.

In the video introduction I talk about some major news that is great for the larger Tesla community and Tesla! The Annual Tesla Owners Silicon Valley X Takeover Event is coming up from 9-10 October and in a new location … here at Giga Texas in Austin, TX! I’m really looking forward to seeing so many great people from the community & in a fantastic location!

The four main construction projects are all seeing work today, with the north Campus (Optimus factory) foundation work expanding & other GeoPier work on the south end. The foundation work continues with three distinct sections under construction.

On the south end of what I think may be phase 1 of the construction, the large depressed graded area has had about .05 to 1 meter of gravel and crushed concrete added and now GeoPier equipment is at work.

On the middle section, dense footings of two primary types are being constructed, suggesting heave loading of the structure in this area.

On the north end, it’s mainly flat grade with little footing work so far.

I say I *think* this might be a two-phase construction project because the north perimeter grade beam is laid out as if it is the final configuration, but the south end is not. There is a large field south of this area that, with reclamation work, could support a doubling of the structure, if that was desired.

The Advanced chip fab site continues to see clearing out of materials & relocation of trailers, with some grade work in the center area.

Cortex 2 has had almost all transformers installed not eh W side in prep for many more Megapacks which may begin arriving by June. The cooling plant part 2 is preparing to install the fan units on the roof, & many more large cooling pipes have been delivered nearby.

The Test Track continues to have asphalt laid out on the driving surfaces and surrounding support areas such as possible parking lots. The majority of the large “oval” track has had asphalt laid down and much of the inner track surfaces too. Still more work to complete the infield and the chicanes, but they also have been doing some asphalt work around the perimeter area.

The ponds and drainage section of the infield has had much of the old TBM slurry mixed soil removed and grade work is evident. I don’t know what the plans are for this area, but I would think Cybertruck would like an off-road play area … don’t you?

Again about 70 Cybercabs in the Giga Texas outbound lot today, but I think most are the same as I observed on Wednesday. Some more Cybertruck interspersed within a sea of Model Y’s today as transportation operations will continue all weekend to ship these out.

The original Tesla Semi was overseeing the outbound lot again today as the Direct Delivery Center was transferring cars to new customers and this will also continue all weekend too!
