When it comes to off-roaders, few brands are doing it better than Toyota and Land Rover. The question is, does the all-new Land Cruiser have what it takes to beat a 15-year-old Range Rover over a series of off-road challenges?
To find out, let’s take a closer look at the stats…
First off, we have the Land Cruiser, which is powered by a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel. This creates 204hp and 500Nm, with this power sent to all four wheels. It weighs in at 2,415kg, and as new it costs around £80,000.
Then we come to the Range Rover – which is Sam’s own car! There’s a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel under the bonnet, and this sends 272hp and 640Nm to all four wheels. It’s a fair bit heavier than the Toyota, weighing in at 2,642kg, but it’s a whole lot cheaper – Sam only paid £5,000 for it!
Both cars come with several off-road features, but will the amount of tech in the Land Cruiser be too much for the Range Rover to match? Stick with Mat and Sam to see for yourself!
