Wes and Comp drive a 2016 Chevy Spark EV – one of our cars from the 5 Grand Fizz – from the track in North Carolina toward Baltimore, where Lacey will take over and live with the Spark for a while to see what it’s really like to own one.
Along for the journey is Comp in his 2023 Tesla Model S as the chase car. The trip turns into a perfect mix of brilliant efficiency and frustrating charging compatibility issues. Despite its small battery (around 15 kWh usable) and roughly 60 miles of range, the Spark can charge at nearly 45 kW all the way to about 90% – when the charger actually decides to communicate with it.
