In this video, I embark on an electric vehicle road trip, driving 100 miles to check out the state of EV charging, and the experience was far from smooth. As an electric car enthusiast, I was excited to test the waters of EV travel, but I soon encountered a plethora of EV problems that left me frustrated. From broken chargers to charging fails, my EV journey was plagued by issues that highlighted the shortcomings of the current charging infrastructure. I visited various charging stations, including Gridserve, Tesla, and Applegreen Electric, but was often met with disappointment. The M5 motorway services, which are supposed to be equipped with reliable charge points, were particularly underwhelming. My trip from Birmingham to Bristol was supposed to be a showcase of the benefits of green travel and sustainable travel, but it ended up being a testament to the EV frustrations that many electric vehicle owners face. Despite the challenges, I remain committed to the idea of EV life and the benefits of electric road trips, but it’s clear that there’s still much work to be done to improve the state of EV charging.
