Mercedes VLE Review: the most luxurious EV we’ve ever tested?

What if Mercedes took everything it knows about luxury limousines and packed it into an electric people carrier?
That’s exactly what the company has tried to do with the all-new Mercedes VLE, a brand-new electric MPV that promises up to 435 miles of range, ultra-fast 800V charging, seating for up to eight people and enough technology to make most luxury SUVs look positively old-fashioned.
In this video, Nicki Shields gets behind the wheel of the Mercedes VLE for the very first time in the UK to find out whether this all-electric luxury shuttle can really deliver on Mercedes’ ambitious promises.
With air suspension, rear-wheel steering, a huge 115kWh battery, a cinema-sized 31-inch rear screen and a cabin designed to rival business-class travel, the VLE aims to create an entirely new segment between luxury limousine and family MPV.
But does it actually feel special on the road? Is it comfortable enough to justify the premium price tag? And can it really tempt buyers away from SUVs, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and even luxury executive cars?
