Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Early morning flight today and a beautiful sunrise to greet my drone as I flew around the site and got an update on all the construction that was underway today. It’s like Giga Texas is one giant construction site with an oasis of production centered at the main factory and outbound lot.

In the video introduction I talked about several of the key construction sites and the progress along with some renderings and illustrations to help better explain what we are seeing underway today. The biggest development is accelerating east side relocation of equipment, trailers and materials while tree clearing, earthwork and more is visible to prepare the site for initial construction.
At the far north site (aka North Campus), the huge, 2+ million square feet foundation continues to emerge, with GeoPier work extending from the center and to each side of the mid-span of the foundation. Earthwork on the north and south ends, a new perimeter road around the foundation emerging (likely for construction vehicles) and much more.
On the east side, where the Advanced Technology Chip Fab will be constructed, the activity levels were hitting a new gear, with signs that construction may begin in the next 30 to 60 days, once everything Is relocated to make space for construction to begin. River Road’s extension earthwork extends almost uninterrupted from the southeast all the way up to the lone tree field on the far north side. Ponds are being filled in, grade work is raising up the future road surfaces and removal of the old concrete debris and large pile of dirt is well in progress.
On the far southwest corner, the new Test Track is still drying out ahead of asphalt paving although all driving surfaces have had the oil spray put down, clearing defining where the asphalt paving will happen.
At Cortex 2.0, the chiller plant assembly & testing is well underway, with all six bays of part 2 of the chiller and fan units now partially assembled and progressing quickly to the point where we should see the initial fan housing cutouts on the roof emerge. The prep work for part 2 of the Megapack installation on the west side of the facility is also rapidly progressing to the point where we should see more Megapacks arriving, perhaps in early May.
Production is moving along too, with many Model Y’s and ~60 Cybercabs, plus many Cybertrucks all spread out in the W outbound lot. Cybercab production line work continues, and more vehicles seem to be leaving the factory and headed to the outbound lot. Today I saw another ~60 but this time instead of small defined groups, they were spread all over the outbound lot, some driving to the Superchargers, others doing driving testing while even more look to be preparing for transportation off site.
Now that we are in mid-April, I’m hoping we will begin to see even more of these showing up at the outbound lot and if that starts to happen, it will give a better idea how the production line is doing as far as ramping up.
