Tesla Model Y – 2,000 Miles Florida to Indiana Road Trip Part 1

If there is one thing I love about our Tesla Model Y, it is road trips! I can’t get enough road trips in our Tesla. For the holidays, it’s time to take a trip back to Indiana to celebrate with family.

We have been road tripping in a Tesla Model Y since 2020, and it has been great. One thing that has changed at Tesla over that time is that the newer generation vehicles are capable to getting much closer to their EPA rated range than they used to be. This means better efficiency and longer stretches between charging.

Although the new refresh Tesla Model Y does not have faster charging speeds, it does travel faster as it is able to travel farther per kWh than the older generation. Our Model Y is a 2026 Tesla Model Y LR AWD Launch Series. It was ordered with the 20" wheels and is rated at 303 miles on a full charge. Although smaller wheels and the rear wheel drive version would be better for road trip efficiency, I was extremely pleased with the performance of this car vs our previous Model Y.

As the holiday season is upon us, many are taking to the roads, and Teslas are no exception to that. The boys and I will be driving up to Indiana and the whole family will be driving back down to Florida after Christmas.
