From Bearded Tesla Guy.
Waymo just launched in Orlando on February 24, 2026 – one of the newest cities for their fully driverless robotaxi service! I hopped in for my very first 3 rides right after the rollout (invite-only access via the Waymo app) to test how it handles Orlando’s tourist traffic, I-4 chaos, airport runs, and theme park areas.
As a Tesla owner (@BeardedTesla), I couldn’t help but compare this to Tesla’s Robotaxi progress and the Cybercab vision — is Waymo ahead in real-world ops, or will Tesla’s cheaper, vision-only approach catch up?”
In this hour-long deep dive, I share:
– Ride 1, 2, and 3 breakdowns (routes, smoothness, pickup/drop-off, app experience)
– Direct comparisons to Waymo in other cities I’ve tried (Phoenix, SF Bay Area, LA, Austin, etc.)
– Pros/cons for Orlando specifically (tourist crowds, weather, complex roads)
– Safety feels, no-driver moments, and if it’s ready for everyday use here
As a Tesla owner in New York (originally from Florida vibes), this was eye-opening – is Waymo ahead of FSD/robotaxi progress? Let me know your thoughts!
