The Rustiest Body Swap Project Car Build Part 4 // Subaru Impreza WRX powered Matra Rancho SUV.
My Barn (Field) Find SUV Talbot Matra Rancho/Impreza Body Swap Is Finally Coming Together. Jonny Smith bought an ultra-rare RHD Classic where less than 6 are left in the UK. The BIG Plan? To swap its body onto a 4wd GC8 Subaru Impreza, which has the identical wheelbase. In this episode we show how Yorkshire Car Restoration continue to weld and marry the Subaru chassis with the Simca based Rancho upper body (thought to be the first soft roader / Crossover genre from 1977, with only a handful of Talbot Matra Ranchos are left) to match the A-pillar and windscreen/door apertures. It’s tricky, but Ryan at YCR is committed!
This 1984 car (production ended shortly after) is going to be 7 seat, which was an option back when new, and will feature a discreet roll cage for safety.
