Small electric SUVs are a bit like buses… you wait ages for one, and then suddenly they all arrive at once. But while Volkswagen Group has been teasing us with the ID.Polo, Cupra Raval and Skoda Epiq, Kia has just gone and turned up early with the finished article, this is the all-new Kia EV2, and we’ve driven it.
This compact electric SUV could be one of the most important EVs of the next few years. With prices starting from just over £24,000, up to 281 miles of range and a clever, practical interior, the EV2 is aiming to bring proper everyday usability to the small EV market. It’s not just about affordability, it’s about making a small electric car that works as your main car.
In this first drive review, we take a closer look at the design, interior, practicality and tech, and find out what it’s like to drive. Can the EV2 beat its key rivals like the VW ID.Polo, Skoda Epiq and Cupra Raval? And is this the moment small electric cars finally go mainstream?
