Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Early flight today watching the sunrise trying to break through a low cloud layer on the horizon revealed a site brimming with activity for both production and construction! I am constantly blown away but all the activity that is underway here and those that are responsible for managing it all!

In the video introduction, I talk about three of the four major construction projects underway at the site today, and a milestone development with the production of some of the first final Cybercabs without steering wheels or pedals.
These were lined up in a separate group in the outbound lot and away from other engineering versions of the Cybercabs that do have steering wheels and used for testing around the country.
I also remind viewers that next Wednesday, 22 April here at Giga Texas Tesla will host the 1st Quarter Financial Results meeting. As normal, I expect Tesla to take questions from shareholders and I’m pretty sure some of the topics people around the world are interested in is the status of the Robotaxi service, Cybercab and Cybertruck production and the status and direction of Full Self Driving.

A few items of note for today’s video:
Something big has changed at Giga Texas with Cybercab production … ~ 14 in the outbound lot WITHOUT STEERING WHEELS! Earlier this week, the production line has begun what we are all waiting for and I would expect to see many more starting on Monday, 4/20, which has some historical symbiology for Tesla.
The Giga Texas North Campus construction site Is beginning the transition from foundation preparation to construction, with large excavations over where GeoPiers have already been constructed (and still more underway) & the first shipment of rebar has been made, which crews were busy making into footing rebar cages!
This should help put to rest some questions I have been hearing lately of if this really was a construction site for a new factory. I think today, there is no doubt.
So, the next question will be how long until we start warring vertical construction? Good question. At the current pace they are going, I would not be surprised to see this happening by July.
The likely pattern over the next two months or so will be GeoPiers, footing excavations, many more rebar cages assembled & installed, then concrete pours.
Progress on the Tesla – SpaceX – XAI Advanced Technology Chip Fab is accelerating on the E side of Giga Texas! River Rd extension & a large water retaining pond construction on the S end!
In the middle area, many trailers, materials, equipment, diesel contractor truck filling stations & tree removal work is well underway, clearing the space for construction to begin.
I’ve added a photo of the official rendering in the video from almost the same location for you to compare the current site with what the rendering shows about this new & important part of making AI chips for products, orbiting data centers & training for future products across these three companies!
The new Giga Texas Test Track has received a new delivery of steel corrugated water pipes for an underground drainage system today & continues to dry out ahead of asphalt application on the driving surfaces.
There is also an emerging parking space & provisions for light posts, & areas for perhaps supporting facilities.
