From Alex on Autos.
VW has gone two very different directions when it comes to their family haulers; Futuristic Retro and Modern Conventional. The Atlas doesn’t have a long list of flashy features trying to set it apart from the competition but it scores well in all the metrics that are truly going to matter in everyday use. The styling is subjective but the Atlas has a strong presence and generally good looks that don’t rely on a trend to stay relevant. Inside you’ll find screen real estate that feels modern but the controls might be a bit more sci-fi than VW shoppers may be looking for with more touch controls than knobs and dials. Loading up the car is going to be easy with all the space available, the tilt and slide seating for access to the rear seats, and a good size cargo area for all your passengers goods. The best the vehicle has to offer comes once you’re in the driver seat though with a smooth engine, athletic handling characteristics, and a build quality you can feel that’s come to be known with German brands like VW.
