New Model Y Colors, Superchargers & AT Chip Fab! 8 May 2026 Giga Texas Construction Update (8:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

I am closely monitoring Starship Flight 12 and will be headed down to Starbase once I know a “firm” launch date … still looking like NET 15 May, but that could slip a few days. I am planning on flying on Monday, 11 May and then we shall see what my travel schedule will look like. Have a great weekend!

For today, I got in another drone flight before more rains come through! Today, we see not only the mystery car still under covers, but also new colors Tesla just announced for the Model Y & Model 3s … Marine Blue & Frost Blue! 40+ Cybercabs in the outbound lot along with noticeable jump in production of Model Y’s.

The supercharger workshop continues to be very busy, assembling all kinds, including the new Folding Unit versions. The SpaceX & Tesla joint venture Advanced Technology Fab construction site continues to see progress on the E site, a new clearing on the far NE field, & the new Optimus factory foundation now getting two types of footings constructed.

A few items to further discuss:

Cybercab action at Giga Texas today with over 40 in the outbound lot, many at Crash Texting (likely disposing of older engineering versions no longer needed) and Cybercab production body parts stands on the N end of the main factory.

The Giga Texas supercharger workshop continues to be very busy! The operations here on the far SW of the site have been going strong for about 6 months & they are assembling all kinds, including the new Folding Unit versions on these innovative steel bases!

I think perhaps a more permanent facility might be called for since it seems like this operation is making a lot of Supercharger assemblies!

The SpaceX & Tesla joint venture Advanced Technology Fab construction site continues to see progress on the E site, mainly with materials, trailers and equipment relocation and work on River Rd extension.

Most of the large mound of dirt and debris is mow completely removed too and the overall grade is looking more Locke a construction site.

Interestingly, on the very far NE “lone tree” field, large clearings with an access road is being created, probably where the rest of the workshops, materials & other items on the E site will be moved to soon. There is a nearby permitted NE trailer area too. Fortunately, I think the “lone tree”, which is a bit of an icon here is staying!

New colors on Model Y’s announced by Tesla yesterday showing up at Giga Texas today! Marine blue for the Model Y Premium and Frost Blue for the Model Y Performance! In this video, you can see the old and blue next to each other and the frost blue is very evident!
