A few months ago, I was invited by Tesla to preview the new Model Y Standard just before it was publicly announced and placed on the design studio for purchase. The goal for this model was to offer most of the Tesla experience people have come to enjoy with these vehicles, but at a lower price point.
Now, a few months later, I have been given the opportunity to try one of these cars out for an extended period of time and experience what ownership might be like. I’ve driven it in cities, rural highways, interstates and more, adding almost 1,000 miles in about a week. I’ve used the included (on this car) Tesla’s Full Self Driving which is amazing, but I’ve also tried to drive it myself to experience manual driving and form my opinions about how well it drives.
In this review, I wanted to offer a different set of tests and information than what you might get on other reviews with the intent to provide you the data you need when making a decision to purchase a Model Y Standard.
