From Joe Tegtmeyer.
In this special interview from Tesla Giga Berlin, I talk with the Wolfpack Brothers, Andreas and Robert, legendary drone pilots who have documented the factory’s construction for over 4½ years.
Together, they went by the "Wolfpack" on their YouTUbe and X channels and were a big influence to me as I began covering the construction of Giga Texas, which began work about 6 months after Giga Berlin broke ground. I was really excited to meet them as I had corresponded a little over the past 6 years, but I never had the chance to meet them until now.
We were able to enjoy a nice dinner the evening before and we talked a lot about their cinematic style of drone videos covering the factory … a big influence on me!
English was a bit of a challenge for them in the interview, but their passion, expertise and knowledge of the site still comes through.
From the earliest groundbreaking days, the brothers captured stunning cinematic footage of Giga Berlin rising in Grünheide. They continued to refine their craft, producing high-quality video footage, moving maps and overlays that both informed the viewing public of the developments at the factory over the years and their influence on me as I covered the construction of Giga Texas which began about 6 months after their coverage of Giga Berlin began.
They told me that they themselves were inspired by the groundbreaking drone coverage of Giga Shanghai by creators like Wuwa and Jason Yang, which is also true for myself.
Andreas and Robert decided to bring the same level of dedication and visual storytelling to Europe’s first Gigafactory. Their passion for Tesla’s mission, engineering excellence, and the sheer scale of the build turned their hobby into a global phenomenon.
Right before our chat, the brothers got an exclusive tour inside the now fully operational factory, the first time they’d seen it. since the original open house in 2021 when production was just getting underway. I ask about their impressions of the fully operational factory from the inside and up close after years of filming it from the skies.
Their awe and excitement were palpable as they reflected on watching the site transform from raw land into a world-class manufacturing powerhouse.
We discussed their motivations, the challenges of consistent drone work, their hopes for Giga Berlin’s bright future (including expanded production, innovation, and its role in Europe’s EV transition), and their reaction to how their videos have reached and inspired audiences worldwide—from Tesla fans and engineers to curious locals and the broader sustainability community.
A heartfelt conversation with two dedicated creators who helped tell the story of Giga Berlin from day one. Huge thanks to Andreas and Robert for their time and incredible work!
