We attended the GM Empower Event in San Francisco, where we had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, innovators, and partners shaping the future of energy and transportation.
One of the highlights was catching up with the team from Redwood Materials and learning more about the latest chapter in their partnership with General Motors. Redwood announced plans to deploy approximately 100 repurposed GM battery packs at a GM operating plant in Michigan, creating a 1.5 MW / 7.2 MWh energy storage system. This innovative project will provide dispatchable energy to the facility while giving EV batteries a valuable second life.
The announcement showcases how battery reuse can support grid resilience, improve energy efficiency, and advance a more sustainable circular economy for electric vehicles.
