Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer DRIVEN – a proper hot estate? | batchreviews

From batchreviews.

We Brits love estate cars, but especially fast ones. Whether it’s a BMW, a Mercedes, a Volvo or an Audi, we go mad for hot wagons.

But when it comes to electric estate cars there’s not much choice. Which is why I’m so interested in this new Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer. The ID.7 is VW’s flagship electric car and takes on the likes of the Tesla Model 3. For 2024, VW has added a Tourer estate model and added some extra spice by applying its GTX trim.

In the case of the GTX Tourer, that means a 340hp dual motor 4Motion powertrain, tweaked suspension and steering, and a host of new styling features including the GTI-like Kings Red paint colour.

But is it any good? I went to Sweden – the home of the Volvo estate car – to find out whether it’s racy enough to be classed as a hot estate.

If I look a bit familiar then you might have seen me on Carbuyer and Auto Express YouTube channels in the past.
