Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Beautiful day to fly as we begin the last full week before the end of the 2nd quarter. Activity levels across the site with both construction and production of Cybercabs along with Model Ys and some Cybertrucks well underway. Many Cybercabs in motion on the test track, driving from the main factory exit point to the west End-of-Line facility & around the factory itself simulating drop off and pickups for passengers.

In the video introduction, we look back a 3 months of progress at the east side Advanced Technology Chip Fab construction site, showing how much progress has been made with relocation of tons of equipment, materials, container, construction trailers, vehicles and more, while at the same time making big progress with the River Road extension, underground water management & delivery system installation, soil sample drilling, excavation work & GeoPier installation.
This site is also growing wider with movement of part of the east Warehouse-on-Wheels (WOW Yard) and perimeter fence, while we also see additional grade work to prepare the wider site. What I think is happening with the last of the workshops and the recycling yard is that they want to move these last to minimize operations and other site construction already in progress, particularly the Cortex 2 second chiller plant. To do this, they will most likely work on the north end first, then progress to the south.
Some additional items from the flight today:
At the Giga Texas North Campus construction site, the new Optimus factory continues fast progress using 7 large cranes assembling the steel superstructure & we see floor decking already being installed! Footing construction along with more GeoPier work is evident & more steel beams & columns are arriving nearly continuously at the site. reclamation work on the S end, where remnants of the old sand & gravel mine are present continues, & this will allow the new factory to extend its length further.
We see final work at the north end of the main factory to complete the expansion of 4680 battery cell production capacity. Most of the internal reconfiguration and construction work is now complete, drywall was being delivered inside today, and I noted the last 4680 production cabinet arrived today … the staging yard where all cabinets were stored for the past 6 months is completely empty today. .
Having all this extra production capacity is absolutely essential to Tesla’s current and future planned products, and this is so important, we are seeing 4680 production capability being installed over at Giga Berlin as well. I got to see some of this in progress while I was on my trip to Giga Berlin earlier this month.
Today I got lucky in timing as I saw a newly built Cybercab exiting the main factory, and my drone was in the right place with a fresh battery, so I was able to follow over the full route (~1.5 miles or ~ 2.4 Km) over to the Supercharges near the EOL facility!
And that was just the beginning. Overall, I saw more than 150 Cybercabs today driving or parked all over the Giga Texas site, including more drop ff testing near the factory, three large groups in the outbound lot, testing on the test track & coming off the highway frontage roads.
We heard yesterday from Wes Morrill, a senior engineer at Tesla that Cybercabs do have audio capabilities to cancel out NVH so this might be part of the testing we are seeing with Cybercabs driving over a variety of rumble strips, along with further testing of the Cybercab’s autonomous driving capabilities.
