Cybercab Day! I focus on the Four Major Construction sites! 19 June 2026 Giga Texas Update (07:05AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

It’s Cybercab day and a national holiday at Giga Texas and despite the low clouds and threats of light rain showers, it was a great day to fly, and I was able to get clear shots a bunch in the outbound lot sporting the “Cybercab” logos on the doors and rear hatch!

I decided to do a slightly different drone flight profile today, with concentration on the four major construction areas, starting with a birds-eye flight around each area, and then coming in lower for more detailed looks. I think this helps put into context where each of these sites are in relation to the main factory and it provided me a chance to describe each in broader terms before flying lower and looking at a more detailed vantage point.

In the video introduction, I cover each of the four main construction sites, using my birds eye views along with a brief discussion to set up the main video. The sites are the North Campus Optimus factory, Cortex 2, the east side construction site of the joint venture Advanced Technology Chip Fabrication & development facility with SpaceX, and the far southwest Test Track, which now includes a dedicated Cybercab testing office.

Here’s a few more details from the video today:

Birds eye drone fly over of the joint venture between SpaceX and Tesla Advanced Technology Chip Fabrication E side construction site today. The main work continues to be grade preparation, clearing & relocation of temporary workshops, material storage & equipment & there was some preliminary GeoPier work strengthening the soil for eventual construction.

I noted farther to the north several new temporary structures going up, most likely the shops that will allow the movement of the remainder of the workshops and recycling yard not eh E side to allow for the Chip Fab construction to begin in earnest later this summer.

Birdseye look at the major construction areas of Giga Texas with this view of the new Test Track located on the far SW side of the main property. This track is partially completed yet beginning operations with Cybercab testing and a temporary trailer & covered structures going up on the E side of the track.

I include a high-altitude view of the entire North Campus construction site at Giga Texas where the new 10M/yr Optimus factory is being constructed! The approach is like what we saw with the main factory building when it began construction.

Tesla construction uses an agile & Minimum Essential Capability (MEC) approach which means we are likely to see portions of the factory be completed more quickly than other portions to allow the start of equipment installation & initial testing before the rest of the structure is completed.

The final high-altitude flyover today was over the massive Cortex 2.0 datacenter where AI training for the Optimus Robot (and possibly some FSD training) is taking place. The plant is still partially operational with about half of the Megapacks & cooling systems installed while the second half is well under way to be completed later this summer/early fall.

Cortex 2 is located just south of the new Optimus 10M/yr run rate factory which itself is under construction, so this is a convenient location for both of these new facilities here at Giga Texas!

Cybercabs were out in big numbers today, some doing test drives and simulated passenger dropoffs around the factory, while others with large “Cybercab” decals on the doors and rear hatch were over in the outbound lot. At the Test Tack, we see a new testing facility with a temporary trailer, latrines, new covered parking slots and 5 Cybercabs.
